BLACKWING Volume 223 (limited edition)
The U.S. experienced Dust Bowl in the 1930s, which lead to hundreds of people were forced to lose their homes and leave their hometowns to go to California to pick grapes or work in farming to make livings. However, life is still difficult. In the first half of the 20th century-Woody Guthrie, the most iconic American folk singer, turning what he saw on the journey into the words of The Land is Your Land. While describing experiences and witnessing unequal treatment, this song became an iconic work that aroused the democratic consciousness of the American people in the 1940s and sung widely across generations. Woody Guthrie's creative talent is not only this; he has turned countless journeys into poetry, drawings, and paintings. Numerous works have a sepia as the vital tone, but they are pretty playful and energetic. The belief that the American people will get better under difficult circumstances has been inspired from time to time, and it still has a far-reaching impact.
To pay tribute to Woody Guthrie's immutable optimism, Blackwing VOL.223 was born. The matte black metal ferrule with an earth-toned eraser symbolizes Woody's endless mileage during his journey. The lyrics of The Land is Your Land, such as "ribbon of highway," "endless skyway," and "golden valley," have achieved the black and curved, sky blue, and mud yellow pencil design. The moderately dark graphite is suitable both for writing and sketching; you, too, can fill your pages, just like Woody Guthrie back then.
